Kai Tak Cruise Terminal

Construction of the building and the first berth of the cruise terminal started in May 2010, and operational testing was conducted on March 16, 2013. The building was completed on June 1 , and the trial opening was held on the 12th of the same month. The first berth was completed in July and the second opened in September 2014. The Hong Kong Government hopes that the development of Kai Tak Cruise Terminal will help Hong Kong seize the opportunities brought by the growth of the cruise tourism market in the Asia Pacific region and develop Hong Kong as a cruise hub in the region.

Kai TAK Cruise Terminal is a three-storey terminal with a total length of about 850 metres, equivalent to the connecting length of two recumbent International Commerce Centres. The 42-metre column-free space in the building can be used as an exhibition space to support the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during the off-season. The Kai TAK Cruise Terminal has two berths with an average water depth of 12m to 13m. The total berths cover an area of 850m by 35m. The terminal is capable of berthing vessels up to 455m and 400m respectively. The first berth can be used for world-class cruise ships with a displacement of 110,000 tons and a gross tonnage of 220,000 tons, while the next berth can be used for medium-sized cruise ships [3]. The edge inspection facility at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal can handle up to 3,000 passengers per hour.
